In this workshop, you will learn the basics of spatial data science and analysis using Python and Jupyter Notebooks. Working through a typical spatial data science use case, we will cover a number of integral Python libraries for data transformation and analysis (NumPy, Pandas, Seaborn, Matplotlib, etc.) as well as libraries suited for spatial analysis (Shapely, Geopandas, PySAL, CARTOframes. etc.). Workshop attendees should leave this session with a good understanding of how to solve spatial problems with a spatial data science workflows. Bring your laptop. The session will include setting up a virtual environment to install packages.

JD has over 20 years of experience solving geospatial problems for governments, non-profit organizations and businesses, with a focus on environmental and social sustainability. JD holds a Master of Public Administration from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Science in Geosciences from Trinity University in San Antonio.
